Street Car Takeover 6/22-24

HELLO EVERYONE!

What a crazy last weekend in Charlotte! Three words, Street Car Takeover. It was my first time going to any of the SCT events and it will definitely not be the last. The whole weekend was event packed. Thursday was the first day at Twin Peaks in Concord. There SCT had a pre-race car show, showcasing all of the vendors and some of the cars for the rest of the weekend. I met a lot of great people there, including one of the owners, Chase, who was very welcoming to me and the team at Street Cars 101 magazine. Friday was off to the track (at ZMAX Dragway) for part of the main events which unfortunately got canceled due to water on the track. But nonetheless I made the most of my time there, walked around, got some good photos and spoke to some of the people competing. I learned some much about everyone's cars and what some of these people do. I’ve always had an idea what goes into building and maintaining a race car but never really understood the magnitude of it. Saturday, races started bright and early at 8am. First was roll racing then the different drag classes started after that. I got to the track a little after 11 and caught the last couple hours of the rolls. The coolest part of that was actually being able to be on the track as these cars fly by. Once the drag racing started, it was something I've never experienced before. It was amazing and made me love what I do even more. While I was there on Saturday I met some more people who are local to the Charlotte area and from surrounding cities. This whole weekend made me realize one very important thing people bond over cars. I am looking forward to the next SCT event! Keep up to date with the Car Scene Report on Instagram and on the website!
